Saunders completed the 330-unit housing complex offering private accommodations for the resort’s year-round and seasonal employees.
The Winter Park Ski Resort employs over 500 people each ski season — many who travel from all over the world to spend the winter season working on the mountain. Previously, the resort had limited housing for workers in town, and affordable options in the community couldn’t keep up with demand.
Saunders completed foundations for the resort’s new 330-unit workforce housing complex, named the Conifer Commons, in October 2022, picking back up with construction after the 2022-2023 ski season. The project used sustainable modular construction that was solar-ready. Eliminating the multi-bed, dorm-style living, this project offers studio and one-bedroom apartments, becoming the first workforce housing project in the area to offer private accommodations for the resort’s year-round and seasonal employees.
The project received the 2024 Honorable Mention, Permanent Modular Workforce Housing from the Modular Building Institute.
