Read More →Located on a 600-acre site west of Aurora Reservoir, the Southeast Recreation Center & Fieldhouse was developed to provide residents with a premier destination for fitness, recreation, wellness, and community gathering. The 77,000-square-foot facility reflects extensive public input and was carefully designed to meet the needs and priorities identified by residents in southeast Aurora.
Positioned near growing neighborhoods and one of the region’s most popular outdoor recreation areas, the center serves as a regional hub for individuals and families of all ages. Construction began in February 2021 following a comprehensive community engagement process that helped shape the facility’s programming, amenities, and overall vision.
A defining feature of the project is Aurora’s first indoor fieldhouse, a 23,000-square-foot space that supports a wide range of athletic, recreational, and community activities. The facility also includes a gymnasium, a 1/9-mile elevated indoor track, and a state-of-the-art fitness center that offers expansive views of Colorado’s Front Range, creating an inspiring environment for health and wellness.
The aquatics area provides year-round recreational opportunities and includes an indoor pool, waterslide, hot tub, and lazy river. These amenities were designed to accommodate everything from fitness and aquatic programming to family recreation and leisure activities.
In addition to the building itself, the project included the development of a new access road and supporting site infrastructure to improve accessibility and accommodate future growth within the surrounding area. These improvements help ensure the facility functions as an integrated part of the broader recreation network serving southeast Aurora.
The result is a vibrant community asset that expands access to recreation, promotes healthy living, and provides a gathering place where residents can connect, play, learn, and thrive for years to come.
The project received the 2023 Best Project Award, Sports/Entertainment from Engineering News-Record Mountain States.
