Read More →This 96,300-square-foot school was developed for Carbon County School District 1 to consolidate three existing community schools into a single, modern educational facility. Located near Interstate 80 in Rawlins, Wyoming, the project was designed to improve operational efficiency, reduce long-term maintenance and facility costs, and create new opportunities for collaboration among students, teachers, and staff.
The facility is organized into three distinct learning communities, allowing educational programs to be grouped in a way that fosters connection, supports age-appropriate learning, and creates a more personalized educational experience. This approach encourages interaction among students and educators while providing flexibility to meet evolving instructional needs.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding Rawlins landscape, the architectural design reflects the region’s natural character and environmental context. Materials, forms, and spatial organization were influenced by the area’s geography, creating a strong connection between the school and the community it serves.
By bringing multiple schools together under one roof, the facility strengthens educational resources, enhances collaboration among faculty, and creates a more efficient and sustainable learning environment. The result is a welcoming, community-centered school designed to support student success while reflecting the unique identity of surrounding Rawlins geography.
