The 239,000-square-foot campus accommodates approximately 1,250 students across Englewood High School, Englewood Middle School, and the Englewood Leadership Academy, creating a unified educational destination that supports learners at multiple stages of development.
At the heart of the project was a commitment to creating a 21st-century learning environment that prepares students for future academic and career success. The campus includes a diverse range of specialized educational spaces, including STEM laboratories, a fabrication technology lab, a culinary arts lab, a digital production studio, graphic and fine arts classrooms, a black box theater, fitness and dance studios, and a tiered lecture hall. These facilities provide students with hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and real-world skill development.
The project also included renovations to the existing auditorium and athletics fieldhouse, enhancing campus resources while preserving important community assets. Beyond serving students, TEC was intentionally designed to support public use through carefully planned shared spaces that can operate independently from academic areas. Community amenities include a Library Media Center, auditorium, competition-sized athletic venues, and a community health clinic, allowing the campus to serve as a year-round destination for education, recreation, wellness, and civic engagement.
Sustainability principles were integrated throughout the design. Clerestory windows along the campus’s central corridors introduce abundant natural daylight into interior spaces, while high-performance glazing, energy-efficient wall systems, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and HVAC equipment help reduce energy consumption and operational costs. Environmentally responsible materials and construction methods further support the campus’s long-term sustainability goals.
The result is a transformative educational campus that strengthens connections between students, educators, and the community while providing flexible, future-focused learning environments designed to support generations of Englewood students.
This project received LEED Silver Certification in 2015.
