Read More →The General Motors Parts Distribution Center is a 400,000-square-foot logistics facility designed to support the efficient distribution of automotive replacement parts to more than 225 General Motors dealerships across approximately 12 states. Strategically located at the intersection of E-470 and Interstate 70, the facility serves as a critical component of GM’s regional supply chain network.
The fully racked warehouse is optimized for high-volume inventory management and distribution operations, enabling rapid storage, retrieval, and shipment of replacement parts. Supporting these operations is approximately 20,000 square feet of office space dedicated to administrative, management, and logistics functions.
The facility incorporates extensive transportation and infrastructure features, including 550 linear feet of interior rail service that enhances freight handling capabilities and supports efficient movement of materials throughout the distribution network. A 150,000-gallon water storage tank provides robust fire protection for the facility and its inventory.
Constructed using site-cast Thermomass insulated tilt-up concrete panels, the building combines durability, energy efficiency, and long-term performance. Additional features include six-inch and eight-inch slab-on-grade floor systems designed to support heavy warehouse operations, nearly 20,000 cubic yards of concrete, and a white PVC roof system that contributes to building efficiency and reduced heat gain.
The result is a modern distribution center that strengthens General Motors’ ability to deliver parts quickly and reliably while supporting the operational demands of a large-scale regional logistics network.
This project received the 2003 Industrial Project of the Year from NAIOP.
