Colorado Department of Transportation – Brush Vehicle Storage Facility
Delivering a cost-effective maintenance facility through early collaboration and strategic preconstruction planning....
Read More →Completed in just seven months, this 276,000-square-foot distribution center was developed to support Coors’ growing logistics and distribution needs while enhancing the speed and efficiency of product delivery throughout its supply network. The facility combines large-scale refrigerated storage capacity with advanced distribution capabilities, creating a critical asset within the company’s operations.
A defining feature of the project is its 262,700 square feet of refrigerated storage space, making it the largest facility of its kind in Colorado at the time of construction. The project also achieved a notable engineering milestone with the erection of the heaviest concrete tilt-up panel ever installed in the state, demonstrating the scale and complexity of the facility’s construction.
The building was constructed using the Thermomass insulated tilt-up concrete system, providing superior thermal performance and energy efficiency essential for refrigerated warehouse operations. This approach helped create a durable, high-performance facility capable of maintaining strict temperature-control requirements while supporting long-term operational reliability.
Designed for efficient product movement, the center includes 41 truck loading docks and four rail doors, providing flexible multimodal distribution capabilities. These features allow Coors to streamline logistics operations, improve inventory flow, and deliver products more quickly and efficiently to suppliers and distribution partners.
The result is a high-capacity cold-storage and distribution facility that combines innovative construction techniques, operational efficiency, and logistics flexibility to support one of the region’s largest beverage distribution networks.
This project received the 2002 Gold Hard Hat Award for Outstanding Concrete Project from Colorado Construction Magazine.
