Read More →Delivered through a joint venture between Shaw Construction and Saunders Construction, the new Community Hospital is a 126,000-square-foot, four-story healthcare facility designed to enhance access to high-quality medical services throughout Grand Junction and the surrounding rural region. Designed by Boulder Associates, the hospital opened in 2016 and features 44 private patient rooms within a modern, patient-centered environment.
The facility combines inpatient and outpatient services to provide a broader range of care closer to home. By expanding local access to specialized medical services, the hospital helps reduce the need for patients to transfer to larger healthcare facilities in Grand Junction, Denver, or Salt Lake City for continued treatment.
Key features include a dedicated labor and delivery floor with a private entrance, an expanded emergency department, and advanced technology designed to improve patient outcomes and access to care. Among the facility’s innovations is an emergency room telemedicine robot that enables remote consultations with medical specialists around the world through real-time video communication.
The hospital also benefits from strategic partnerships with healthcare leaders, including the University of Utah Health Care system, which supports physician recruitment efforts and advanced nursing education programs. Together, these investments position the facility as a regional healthcare destination capable of delivering a higher level of care to Western Colorado residents for years to come.
