The program is focused on modernizing clinical spaces, improving operational efficiency, and expanding access to care across the Cheyenne Regional healthcare system.
Phase One
Phase one relocated the CRMG Wyoming Sports Medicine clinic from an off-campus location to the fifth floor of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s medical office building. Design began in early 2023, construction commenced in November, and the new clinic was completed in July 2024. Throughout planning and construction, the team worked closely with CRMG and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to align the project with budget goals through continuous value analysis and strategic scope adjustments that preserved functionality while reducing costs.
Phase Two
Phase two included the renovation of 9,300 square feet of medical office space across Suites 200 and 250. The updated clinic supports Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and outpatient laboratory services, while also providing staff conference space, lounges, provider offices, workrooms, treatment rooms, exam rooms, registration areas, and patient waiting spaces. Significant mechanical, electrical, and technology upgrades were completed as part of the renovation.
Working within an occupied healthcare facility presented several challenges that required proactive problem-solving. During preconstruction, the team identified deteriorated drain, waste, and vent utility connections and developed replacement plans early to avoid disruptions during construction. The project also uncovered limitations within the building’s aging power distribution system. Rather than requiring a full-building power shutdown, Saunders, Treanor, and their trade partners developed an alternative solution that rerouted power through a secondary transformer, maintaining operations while improving long-term reliability and serviceability.
Leveraging extensive experience with Cheyenne Regional’s standards and processes, the project team fostered strong collaboration among ownership, design partners, and trade contractors throughout the project. Construction is currently underway on phase three of the Master Facilities Plan, continuing the long-term transformation of CRMG’s healthcare facilities.
