Good Samaritan Medical Center

This 551,000-square-foot state-of-the-art hospital was constructed via a joint venture relationship in approximately 26 months. Saunders continued to provide renovations and remodels in the facility to meet the growing demands of the hospital, completed while the facility remained open and operational.

The initial phase of the 74-acre, multiple-owner campus included the main 166-bed, five-floor hospital, an adjacent diagnostic and treatment facility, two medical office buildings totaling approximately 320,000 square feet, a central utility plant for the campus, a fully equipped imaging center, and over 2,300 ground-level parking spaces.

The buildings are cast-in-place concrete structures with brick, metal, and glazing for the exterior panels. Two of the hospital’s primary features are a southeast-facing two-story glass atrium main entry and west-facing mountain views from each patient room.

This project received multiple industry awards, including:

• 2004 ACE Merit Award for Construction Excellence from Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado
• 2004 Silver Hard Hat Award for Outstanding Private Project from Colorado Construction Magazine
