To accommodate the new technology, the team transformed an existing laboratory into a highly specialized environment capable of supporting the tool’s unique operational requirements. The project included selective demolition and reconstruction of walls and doors to provide the clearances and access necessary for equipment delivery and installation.
Because the tool was manufactured and shipped from Germany, the project required extensive coordination among the owner, architect, manufacturer, and trade partners. Shop drawings were provided in German, dimensions were documented in metric units, and utility requirements followed European electrical standards. Careful planning and technical coordination ensured all building systems and infrastructure were properly configured to support the equipment.
The renovation took place within an active clean room environment where ongoing scientific research and experiments continued throughout construction. To protect the integrity of the facility, the project team adhered to rigorous cleaning protocols, carefully managed work hours and equipment usage, and implemented specialized procedures to minimize disruption. The completed project provides researchers with the infrastructure needed to support advanced nanotechnology and scientific innovation while maintaining the stringent standards required in a highly controlled laboratory setting.
