Read More →Saunders delivered a complex data center retrofit and infrastructure modernization project for a Confidential Government Client in Colorado Springs, upgrading mission-critical power and cooling systems while maintaining continuous operations throughout construction. The project included new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, automatic transfer switches (ATS), generator distribution infrastructure, air handling equipment, computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, condenser systems, and electrical distribution upgrades designed to increase reliability, efficiency, and long-term operational capacity. Working within an active data center environment where downtime was not an option, Saunders successfully executed the work with zero unplanned outages or disruptions to facility operations.
Operational continuity and safety were central to the project’s success. Saunders developed and executed 29 detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) to govern critical power, cooling, and equipment transitions. Each MOP underwent rigorous stakeholder review, field rehearsals, contingency planning, safety evaluations, and formal sign-off before execution. The team also coordinated multiple schedule-critical crane operations and a 20-hour electrical cutover, completing every phase safely while maintaining uninterrupted service to the mission-critical facility.
