Read More →The multi-phase expansion and relocation project at Longmont United Hospital was designed to support the facility’s continued growth while enhancing emergency care services and campus infrastructure. Completed within 20 months, the project included a new Emergency Department Tower, expansion of the Central Utility Plant, and relocation of the loading dock and material management building.
The centerpiece of the project is a new two-story, 60,000-square-foot Emergency Department Tower featuring four trauma rooms, 23 treatment rooms, decontamination showers, a psychiatric evaluation and holding area, staff workspaces, and a centralized nurse station. Together, these improvements significantly increased the hospital’s capacity to provide emergency and critical care services.
To support the new facility, an 8,870-square-foot, two-story expansion of the Central Utility Plant increased emergency power capabilities, switchgear capacity, chilled and hot water production, and utility distribution throughout the campus. The project also included the relocation and reconstruction of the loading dock and material management building, creating 7,154 square feet of operational support space.
The completed facility was designed to meet standards established by LEED, the USGBC, and the Green Guide for Healthcare, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to sustainable and high-performance healthcare environments.
This project received the 2008 Silver Hard Hat Award for Outstanding Health Care Project from Colorado Construction Magazine.
