Read More →Located on the South Bay of Horsetooth Reservoir, Colorado’s third busiest reservoir, this nearly 12,000-square-foot information center serves as a welcoming gateway for visitors exploring one of Northern Colorado’s premier recreation destinations. Designed to enhance the visitor experience while supporting educational outreach and operational needs, the facility provides a central hub for information, community engagement, and resource stewardship.
The center offers a variety of spaces that support both public and staff functions, including offices, meeting rooms, and visitor service areas. A prominent public porch overlooking the reservoir creates an inviting gathering space where visitors can enjoy panoramic views while learning more about the area and planning their activities.
Educational exhibits and interpretive displays highlight the reservoir’s recreational opportunities, local wildlife and fisheries, regional history, and the significance of the Colorado-Big Thompson Water Project. These resources help visitors better understand the natural and engineered systems that shape the region while fostering appreciation for the area’s environmental and recreational assets.
The facility also serves as a key point of contact for reservoir users. Visitors can obtain current information on water and weather conditions, camping and permit fees, recreation opportunities, and safety guidelines. The center provides direct access to Larimer County staff and park rangers, creating a convenient and reliable resource for both first-time visitors and longtime reservoir users.
The result is a modern visitor center that enhances access to information, promotes outdoor recreation, and strengthens the connection between the community and one of Colorado’s most treasured recreational resources.
