Colorado State University Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering
This project had one simple goal — to create a better world for future generations through education, innovation and infrastructure that reflects the future of
engineering....
This new, 35,000-square-foot building serves as an Innovation Hub, including metal and wood shops, 3D printing and student cornerstone projects. The building is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with conventional steel inside. Dust collection, large glass viewing from the conference rooms and a large foyer grand entrance are all distinct properties of this project. The project also includes a major exterior and interior renovation plus a 400-square-foot addition to an existing 10,000-square-foot truck shop. The building achieved LEED Gold Certification for its sustainable design and construction process.
The term “all under one roof” was coined to describe the organizing principle of the project — to allow students and faculty to engage in a widespread and extensive innovation curriculum within a single campus building. The exposed building structure and mechanical systems showcase the project’s construction and are intended to inspire the students’ work.
