Colorado Department of Transportation – Brush Vehicle Storage Facility
Delivering a cost-effective maintenance facility through early collaboration and strategic preconstruction planning....
Read More →To meet growing demand for its craft beer portfolio, Avery Brewing Company developed a new production facility that significantly expanded brewing capacity while creating a destination for visitors and employees alike. Completed in 2015, the new brewery enabled the Boulder-based company to nearly double production to 200,000 barrels annually while providing room for future expansion.
Constructed as a two-story facility, the brewery combines large-scale production operations with public-facing amenities that showcase the brewing process and strengthen the brand experience. The building houses eight fermenters, a grain tower, a spent grain silo, laboratory facilities, office space, a restaurant, gift shop, and tap room. A unique sensory tasting room further supports product development and quality evaluation.
At the center of the facility is the brew house, which accommodates the full brewing and packaging process, including malt handling, yeast separation, bottling operations, and related production functions. The layout was designed to optimize efficiency while supporting Avery’s continued growth and evolving operational needs.
Although the final tilt-up structure was refined from its original concept, the facility retained a bold architectural presence and strong visual identity. More importantly, it was strategically planned for future expansion, preserving additional space and infrastructure to accommodate increased production as demand continues to grow.
The result is a modern brewing campus that supports Avery Brewing’s operational goals, enhances the visitor experience, and positions the company for long-term success in the rapidly expanding craft beer market.
This project received the 2015 Best Project Award for Manufacturing from Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States.
