Transforming a historic landmark into a one-of-a-kind destination for craftsmanship, hospitality, and community....
Read More →Saunders renovated the 5,400-square-foot main lobby at 1900 16th Street, enhancing the arrival experience for tenants and visitors while maintaining safe, uninterrupted access to the occupied building throughout construction.
The project included selective demolition, installation of 20-foot-high groutless INAX wall tile, a sophisticated millwork package, and upgraded lighting fixtures that elevated the lobby’s overall aesthetic. By engaging early in the preconstruction process, the Saunders team identified critical long-lead materials and developed procurement strategies to ensure products were on site when construction began.
Because the lobby serves as the building’s primary entrance and circulation hub, Saunders implemented detailed safety and logistics plans focused on the main entry and elevator lobbies. Through proactive planning and ongoing reviews of site logistics and safety procedures, building occupants maintained access to the elevators and main entrance with minimal disruption throughout the renovation.
The project received the 2023 Design Award of Merit from the American Institute of Architects Colorado.
