The redevelopment of the outdated and underused Southglenn Mall in Centennial, Colo., transformed this once fully enclosed regional mall into an energetic and eclectic outdoor “lifestyle” or “mixed-use” experience. Filled with shaded walkways and public spaces, The Streets at Southglenn was designed to provide urban convenience in a suburban setting.
Existing retail anchors, Sears and Foley’s (Macy’s), remained dominant anchors for this redevelopment, and both stores stayed open throughout construction.
The Streets at Southglenn features 571,000-square-feet of retail space consisting of a gourmet natural foods market, a movie theater, bookstore, European bistros, sidewalk cafés and unique women’s and men’s apparel.
As a true mixed-use development, The Streets at Southglenn also includes over 600,000-square-feet of residential space as well as 150,000-square-feet of office space. A new 6-level, 1,800 stall parking structure provides convenient access to the desired destinations. This project is LEED Silver Certified.
Awards: Outstanding Retail Project, Gold Hard Hat Award 2009
