Eyestone Elementary Campus Conversion

Transforming existing schools into a unified campus through strategic renovation and accelerated delivery.

Saunders completed the renovation of Wellington Middle School as part of a larger effort to consolidate Wellington Middle School and Eyestone Elementary School into a unified campus serving multiple grade levels.

The project reconfigured the existing middle school building to accommodate third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students relocating from Eyestone Elementary School. Improvements included extensive interior renovations, finish upgrades throughout the building, a renovated kitchen, and replacement of the exterior bus loop and parking lot to better support campus operations and student circulation.

Awarded in late spring 2023 with construction beginning in May, the project was delivered within a highly compressed schedule to ensure the facility was ready for students at the start of the fall semester. Despite limited planning and procurement time, the team successfully incorporated significant scope additions during construction, including the installation of classroom casework throughout the building.

Working within a tight summer construction window, Saunders maintained a strong focus on trade coordination, site logistics, and safety. The team carefully managed work sequencing to maximize productivity while partnering with school staff to provide safe pedestrian access around construction activities and prepare the campus for a successful school year.
