Porter Adventist Hospital – Phase 1A

Modernizing critical healthcare infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted patient care and hospital operations.

The Porter Adventist Hospital Phase 1A project is a multi-phased modernization initiative designed to address the facility’s most critical operational, infrastructure, and staff-support needs while maintaining continuous healthcare services throughout construction. The improvements were strategically planned to enhance the hospital’s functionality, support future growth, and strengthen its ability to attract and retain top medical professionals.

A significant component of the project focused on upgrading essential building systems, including electrical services and mechanical equipment, to improve reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance. These infrastructure enhancements provide the foundation necessary to support evolving healthcare technologies and patient care requirements.

The project also included extensive interior renovations across a variety of clinical, operational, and staff-focused areas. Upgrades were completed within laboratory and morgue facilities, the central utility plant, physician lounge, health information management offices, and the medical library. These improvements modernized existing spaces while enhancing functionality for both caregivers and support staff.

Clinical enhancements included renovations to four operating rooms and their associated support corridors, creating updated environments that better support surgical teams and patient care activities. Additional improvements to the hospital’s café and dining areas provide more welcoming and comfortable spaces for staff, patients, and visitors.

Through careful phasing and coordination, construction activities were completed while allowing the hospital to remain fully operational, minimizing disruptions to patient care and daily hospital functions. The result is a modernized healthcare environment that improves infrastructure, supports medical staff, and positions Porter Adventist Hospital to continue serving its community for years to come.

This project received the 2019 Merit Award for Renovation/Restoration from Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States.
