The original building, with a history dating back to 1903 when it served as the city's Carnegie Library, holds great historical significance.
Saunders was committed to preserving its architectural character while revitalizing the space for use as a cultural and community hub. Now known as the Center for Creativity, the building has undergone structural upgrades, mechanical enhancements, and the addition of modern technologies focused on sustainability and accessibility.
It now serves as a unique venue for artists, performances, meetings, workshops, classes, and special events. The City of Fort Collins aims to foster a vibrant local arts scene by creating an affordable and accessible space for creativity to flourish. The building was brought into Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance through the remodel, allowing community members of all abilities to visit and take part in events.
This project received the 2024 ACE Award for Best Building Project Under $10 Million from Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado.
