Supporting those who protect our communities with a facility dedicated to health, recovery, and resilience....
Read More →Saunders, in partnership with Stantec, completed the expansion of the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority‘s (RFTA) Glenwood Springs Maintenance Facility, helping the agency address operational needs, accommodate future ridership growth, and prepare for the transition to zero-emission transit vehicles.
Delivered through a design-build approach, the project expanded the facility’s operational capacity with new indoor heated bus storage and a second-level operations center that includes a dispatch suite, visitor reception area, drivers room, offices, and locker rooms. The project also incorporated extensive site improvements, including grading, drainage, utilities, landscaping, and employee parking.
Designed with long-term flexibility in mind, the facility supports RFTA’s future fleet electrification goals. Planned future phases include additional heated bus storage capacity for up to 60 buses, battery electric bus charging infrastructure, expanded fueling and wash facilities, and new retaining walls. The facility was also designed to accommodate future hydrogen-powered vehicles, positioning RFTA to adapt as transit technologies continue to evolve.
