Transforming an aging facility into a modern surgical center focused on patient care and clinical excellence.

Saunders completed a comprehensive remodel and tenant finish for Colorado Kidney Care, creating a modern ambulatory surgery center designed to enhance patient care and support advanced medical procedures.

Delivered through a design-build partnership with Cannon Design, the 12,943-square-foot project transformed an outdated facility into a state-compliant surgical environment in just 10 months. Significant building upgrades were required to meet ambulatory surgery center standards, including expansion of the elevator core to accommodate patient gurneys and improve clinical operations.

Interior improvements included new patient rooms, updated lobby and waiting areas, and modern operating rooms equipped to support specialized procedures. The project also involved substantial structural and civil enhancements, including drainage improvements around the building, foundations for a new generator and exterior egress stairs, and reinforcement of existing roof joists to support new mechanical equipment serving the operating suites.

Exterior improvements included upgraded landscaping, extensive civil infrastructure work required by the City of Aurora, and installation of a new rooftop air handling unit. Together, these improvements transformed the facility into a modern healthcare environment that supports efficient operations and delivers a higher standard of care for patients.
