Transforming a historic landmark into a one-of-a-kind destination for craftsmanship, hospitality, and community....
Read More →Saunders completed the adaptive reuse of a vacant department store at Boulder’s 29th Street Mall, converting the former retail space into a Class A creative office building designed for the modern workforce.
The project transformed the approximately 160,000-square-foot, three-story structure by repurposing the existing core and shell into a state-of-the-art mixed-use development featuring 154,000 square feet of creative office space and 9,000 square feet of affordable retail space. By reusing the existing building, the project preserved valuable resources while revitalizing a prominent property within the city.
Targeting LEED Gold certification, Boulder 29 incorporates sustainable features including a 450-kVA rooftop solar array. Upon completion, the project delivered one of the largest contiguous office spaces available in Boulder.
With no original building blueprints available, the project team leveraged advanced reality capture and modeling technologies provided by Saunders’ in-house Integrated Technologies Group (ITG), helping ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout design and construction.
This project received LEED Gold Certification in 2024.
