The Stanley Chocolate Factory
Transforming a historic landmark into a one-of-a-kind destination for craftsmanship, hospitality, and community....
Read More →The Archetype transformed a long-vacant historic theater on South Broadway into a vibrant destination that blends craft distilling, hospitality, art, and community gathering. Originally constructed in 1917 during the silent-film era, the former Webber Theater had stood largely unused for decades, most recently operating as an adult theater before falling vacant. Through thoughtful adaptive reuse, the project restored purpose and relevance to a recognizable Denver landmark while preserving its historic character.
Developed by SourceRock Partners and managed by Corum Real Estate, the 12,050-square-foot renovation reimagined the century-old structure as an artisanal distillery producing small-batch gin and vodka. Visitors can experience the distilling process firsthand through views into the production areas from the open-concept tasting room and event spaces, creating a direct connection between the product and the place where it is crafted.
Designed by Architectural Workshop, the project carefully preserved significant portions of the building’s original brickwork while introducing contemporary materials and detailing that complement the historic structure. The combination of exposed masonry, modern metal accents, and warm wood finishes creates an environment that honors the building’s past while embracing its new identity.
In addition to the tasting room and production spaces, the facility includes a flexible event lounge and gallery area that showcases local artwork and accommodates gatherings of up to 100 guests. These spaces provide opportunities for community engagement and reinforce the building’s role as a cultural and social destination within the neighborhood.
The result is a successful adaptive reuse project that breathes new life into a forgotten Denver landmark, preserving a piece of the city’s architectural history while creating a dynamic venue for craft production, entertainment, and community connection.
