(Centennial, Colo.) – May 11, 2016Saunders Construction, Inc., a leading general contractor in Colorado, is thrilled to announce the topping out of Denver’s Dairy Block project, a high-profile mixed-use development in LoDo that will feature office, retail, and a luxury boutique hotel. This construction milestone means vertical construction is complete.

“For Saunders, this is a really exciting project that is going to be a tremendous addition to lower downtown,” said Tom Alford, Vice President of Operations for Saunders Construction. “The project is coming together fantastically well…even with a wet spring and the various challenges of working in LoDo next to Coors Field, we are on schedule, the quality of work is great, and we are showcasing Saunders’ hallmark of speed to market.”

Due to open spring 2017, the Dairy Block will bring together a mixed-use office, retail and hospitality development along Wazee Street between 18th and 19th Streets, on the historic Denver Windsor Dairy Block in LoDo. The project broke ground on May 11, 2015, and will feature 260,000 square feet of office space, a hotel and a mix of restaurant, retail and lobby spaces on the ground floor. Located mid-block along Blake Street and just one block from Denver Union Station, this new development is conveniently located at the epicenter of the Denver transportation corridor. Its immediate access to mass transit, including the Downtown Denver Circulator external link, close proximity to major highways, walking distance to sports venues, restaurants, and entertainment, provides an ideal location where residents, guests, and tenants can maximize productivity and experience a balanced lifestyle in Lower Downtown.

Designed and built with a commitment to sustainability, the project is anticipated to become LEED Gold certified by the USGBC. A live camera of the progress can be found here.

Saunders was named general contractor of the Dairy Block by developer McWhinney in spring of 2013.
