From Saunders’ first project in the Cherry Creek neighborhood, to the award-winning redesign of Denver’s City Park Golf Course, we’ve remained true to the craft of expert building since day one.
Pappagallo
1972
In February 1972, Saunders received its first construction project, Pappagallo, a women’s boutique in the heart of the Cherry Creek neighborhood.
Dry Creek Elementary
1972
Dry Creek Elementary was Saunders’ first K-12 project as a general contractor and the start to Saunders focusing on community projects. Since then, Saunders has worked with 16 Colorado School Districts and built over seven million square feet of K-12 projects.
Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre
1988
In 1988, Saunders completed construction on Fildder’s Green Amphitheater, which has since evolved into one of Colorado’s top musical venues.
Exempla St Joseph Hospital Addition/Remodel
1989
The Exempla St. Joseph Hospital addition and remodel was Saunders' first project with Exempla Healthcare, Inc. (SCL Health). The successful project took place in an active healthcare building, was a milestone project to creating Saunders' Healthcare Express Division and led to over 180 SCL Health projects and a successful 33-year relationship.
Whole Foods
1990s–2000s
Saunders’ resume of retail projects in the late 90s were critical to giving our company a jump start as the top general contractor in Colorado. From 1998–2016, Saunders completed 120 projects for King Soopers, 60 for Whole Foods Market and 50 for Target.

DEN Hotel and Transit Center
2000s
The DEN Hotel and Transit project was Saunders’ first large tri-venture. The wings of the Westin Hotel have added a signature mark to one of Colorado’s most distinct structures — leaving a lasting impression on one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Saunders’ dedication to the 9+CO Redevelopment made it evident that our company is a true developer’s builder and can work side-by-side with clients, subcontractors and architects to make projects a reality.

2010s
Saunders Development was formed in 2015 to extend Saunders’ services to our clients. Saunders’ first development project was its very own headquarters – a six-acre site within the Inverness Business Park.
