The Gardens on Havana, located at Havana Street and Mississippi Avenue in Aurora, Colorado, replaces the old 800,000-square-foot Buckingham Mall built back in 1965. Initial work on the project included the demolition of the existing mall and all existing paving, curb and gutter, landscaping and some underground utilities.
Demolition was completed in 60 days and we recycled 80% of the former mall materials.
The new outdoor mall includes 250,000 sq. ft. of new retail space and future pad sites on 60 acres. Construction of the 11 retail buildings, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, were built in several phases. Each building was built in approximately five months.
Complete site redevelopment included new utilities, detention ponds, retaining walls, curb and gutter, sidewalks, paving, landscaping and site amenities. The project also included improvements along Havana Street and Mississippi Avenue.
