Built in rural western Nebraska, The Sidney Regional Medical Center is a two-story, 130,000-square-foot hospital bringing much needed medical services to the area.
The new comprehensive facility consists of 25 private patient rooms, two labor and delivery rooms, a surgical suite with three operating rooms and two procedure rooms, an emergency department, outpatient clinics, physician’s clinic, radiology, lab, pharmacy and rehabilitation and cardio pulmonary services. Operating off of a central energy plant, the Sidney Regional Medical Center also includes office space, a kitchen and cafeteria and nearly 200 parking spaces.
Prior to breaking ground in May of 2014, Saunders realized the need to generate significant interest in the project. As a result of the rural location combined with a strained subcontractor market, a considerable amount of effort was put forth to solicit and engage as much Nebraska and regional subcontractor participation as possible. The team attended open houses, contacted local trade organizations and even reached out to Nebraska-based general contractors for input on subcontractors in the area. The extra legwork ensured adequate coverage for the project.
Designed in the spirit of LEED and built for years to come, Sidney’s newest healthcare facility is sure to deliver on the “need to have,” without compromising on the “nice to have.”
